The Infamous Relationship Question: Does My Ex Still Love Me?

From about high school on, how many times have you heard the question, “does my ex still like me” uttered? Probably countless times. Perhaps one of the most frequently asked of questions by newly separated couples is this one. While it may plague your thoughts during the initial break up period, try your best to consider the reasons behind the breakup and why you should not focus too hard on this conundrum.

Before you can continue to ponder this infamous question, remember a few things. First, you cannot force a relationship. No matter how badly you may feel you want it, in the end, both parties must desire the partnership or it will fail. Even if one side agrees to try again against their better judgment.  Make sure you allow enough time to recover from the breakup. You may ask yourself every day; does my ex still have feelings for me? However, do your best to avoid this habit. The more you can focus on other things, the faster you can begin to heal.  Besides, when it comes to love, most things happen unexpectedly. So distract yourself so you are prepared should an opportunity appear!

Save your friends their sanity and understand that you should not over-analyze everything your ex says and does. Believe it or not their every move may not be a hint to you about whether they are for or against your relationship. Be careful though, do not allow them to use you or maintain your loyalty as a backup in case their other pursuits do not work out.  You may be able to tell which it is based on what they say when they speak to you. Is it genuine or an attempt to gather information and control you in some way?

Jealousy is a dirty trick that some partners use to get at their ex. However, this can work both ways. Although it may not be the nicest of signs your ex still loves you, it may be an indication. If you notice a trend that your ex does things or appears with people that make you jealous, it may be intentional.  Do not misunderstand, if they are with someone else and you see them together, that may just be coincidence. However, if you notice they seem to go out of their way to be seen and say things that will obviously turn you into a little green monster, they may still like you. It sounds backwards, but they obviously still care about what you think and want you to want them. If they were truly past their feelings about you, then they would not care how you felt about them.

Now that you know the signs that your ex still loves you, you can begin to figure out how to proceed. You may manage to get them back, however make sure it is the right choice for you and for them. Prolonging a doomed relationship is the worst thing you can do. If you truly love this person and feel they are the one for you, then use this information to your benefit. You never know, it could turn into a second chance!
